Mount Puez
- Puez
The
morphology of the
Puez Group is
different from the other
Dolomite mountains and
somewhat peculiar. This
mountain area is made up
of a large plateau
characterized by rolling
and barren ground.
Starting at the parking
lot of Vallunga, we take
the cable car "Dantercepies"
to the Gardena Pass.
From here the trail
passes the Cir peak and
ascends to the Cir
Pass 2425 m. Here we
have a spectacular view
to the Sella, Mont
Dessera and the Ciastel
de Cedul. We have to
arrive at the
Crespeina Pass 2528
with the famous
Crespeina lake. The
face of the landscape
changes dramatically. It
seems to be on the moon
with all the bright
rocks and desert look of
the plateau.
We arrive at the Puez
refuge and enjoy the
amazing view on many
famous Dolomite peaks.
To descent to the
Vallunga, we can
take the nice trail
number 14. It's a
long way down and after
about 2 1/2 hours we
arrive at the ground of
Vallunga and back to the
parking lot.
