What is
it exactly?
Snowshoes look a little like large duck's feet. You strap them on your feet, although unlike skis you don't wear skiing boots but normal waterproofed mountaineering boots.
Equipped with two sticks, you can then set off: Away from the bustle of the ski runs and into the pristine white wintry landscape of calm Alpe di Siusi / Seiser Alm
It makes no difference if the snow is metres deep, the snowshoes still allow you to tread softly and safely. This way, even non-skiers can venture deep into the mountains and discover glistening powder snow and wintry fairytale forests.
Nowadays snowshoes are light-weight pieces of high-tech equipment.
